The Philippine government has opened construction of an OFW lounge at Davao City International Airport to provide a safe and supportive space for overseas Filipino workers as they travel.

The ceremony, held on December 23, 2025, follows President Marcos' directive to create dedicated services for OFWs. The event was led by Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac of the Department of Migrant Workers, with officials from the Mindanao Development Authority and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines.

Once operational, the lounge will offer a safe, comfortable and supportive environment for workers departing for or returning from overseas employment. The project underscores the government’s commitment to dignified, accessible services at key regional gateways such as Mindanao, and follows existing lounges at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminals 1 and 3.

Construction is expected to finish between May and June 2026. The department stresses its focus on recognizing the sacrifices of Filipino migrant workers and prioritizing their welfare as part of a government‑wide development approach.
